Hardware Security Modules (HSM)

A hardware security module is a physical computing device that safeguards and manages digital keys for strong authentication and provides cryptoprocessing.

At PKI Solutions, we work with you to deploy HSMs from various manufacturers to enforce defined procedures and ensure integrity and assurance. Our current HSM offerings include products from nCipher Security, Thales, and Utimaco as well as other vendors as requested.

nShield Edge

Commonly used for offline Root and Policy CAs, the nShield Edge USB hardware security module is a full-featured, portable USB HSM designed for low-volume transaction environments. This HSM is a USB-connected device that delivers capabilities for encryption and key protection and is ideally suited for off-line key generation for certificate authorities (CAs) as well as development environments.

The Utimaco SecurityServer is a general purpose HSM that ensures the security of cryptographic key material for servers and applications. It includes integration software that supports the industry standard PKCS#11, Microsoft CSP/CNG/SQLEKM and JCE interfaces. It can therefore be used for the most common business applications, such as public key infrastructures (PKIs) or database encryption.
