The Federal Trade Commission estimates that more than half of all phone calls being placed in the U.S. in 2019 will be these annoying and fraudulent robocalls. Globally, the number of robocalls is skyrocketing as well.
New global technology standard: SHAKEN/STIR
Fortunately, there’s an important, new global technology standard called SHAKEN/STIR (Signature-based Handling of Asserted information using toKEN/Secure Telephone Identity Revisited) supported by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and the top telecom companies that is shaking things up. It’s laser focused on stopping these robocall criminals. The PKI Guy’s favorite technology, PKI or Public Key Infrastructure, is the backbone of the SHAKEN/STIR technology and PKI is the key to this battle to put an end to fraudulent robocalls.
